USGBC Publishes Latest Data

posted Jun 1, 2010 11:00 AM by Dave Rhoads
In a further testament of green building growth, the U.S. Green Building Council has presented its latest data on the growth of LEED and membership.
  • USGBC is now up to 80 chapters and over 30,000 individual members
  • Membership has grown to 17,000 (if you aren't a member, we strongly recommend yobecome one)
  • 155,000 professionals have become LEED Credentialed (LEED Green Associate or LEED Accredited Professional)
  • 65,194 projects have been LEED Certified or Registered, equating to over 9 billion square feet
  • Nearly 1 billion square feet have been LEED Certified
  • Over 33,000 projects are certified or registered commercial LEED projects
  • Over 27,000 people attended Greenbuild in 2009
  • Nearly 5,000 LEED-EB Registered and Certified Projects
  • LEED for Schools registered projects has increased dramatically to over 3,000 projects
This data is an encouraging sign that green building is still growing despite the slow economy. Many of these numbers are significantly higher than the previous data from USGBC.
